  1. Buy approved fireworks only from licensed and reliable sellers.

  2. Use fireworks in a clear, open outdoor area away from buildings, vehicles and overhead obstructions.

  3. Wear fitted cotton clothing and closed footwear while lighting fireworks.

  4. Use a long candle or agarbatti, light from the side at arm length and step away immediately.

  5. Keep buckets of clean water and dry sand ready before starting.

  6. Ensure an adult supervises children at all times.

  1. Never hold flower pots, chakkars, bombs or other non-handheld fireworks while lighting them.

  2. Never bend over a firework or place it inside a container.

  3. Never relight a misfired firework; wait 15 to 20 minutes and soak it in water.

  4. Never wear synthetic, nylon, silk or loose flowing clothing near fire.

  5. Never light fireworks indoors, in narrow lanes, near electrical lines or close to flammable material.

  6. Never throw or point fireworks towards people, animals, vehicles or property.
